Recording at RAK Studios
The legendary rock band, The Faces, has returned to the studio, recording “about 11 tracks” for their highly anticipated comeback album. Drummer Kenney Jones, along with remaining group members Sir Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, worked on the new songs at RAK Studios in London. Jools Holland is also featured on one of their tracks, adding his musical touch to the project.
Jones shared an update in an interview with The Telegraph, where he stated, “Not all of them are going to be right [for the album]. But most of them are good.” While fans are eager to hear the new material, Jones hinted that the album might not be ready until 2026. “I can’t see it coming out this year. But I can see it coming out next year,” he explained, falling in line with the band members’ busy schedules. “Everyone’s doing different things. We do little snippets [of recording] here and there. Then all of a sudden, The Stones are out [on tour] again, Rod’s out again…”

Challenges and Glastonbury Appearance
Rod Stewart, who is set to play Glastonbury’s iconic Sunday afternoon Legends slot in June, has acknowledged the hurdles faced while working on new material with The Faces. In a prior interview with Vulture, Stewart admitted, “We’re still struggling to make this album. We’ll see. Some of them might see the light of day.” He also shared that he’s been sending ideas for songs to Ronnie Wood, hoping some may fit the vibe of the band’s recordings. “I’ve sent a lot of them to Ronnie Wood. I told him, ‘This is stuff we’ve recorded with my band, maybe the Faces would like to do it instead,’” Stewart revealed.
Revisiting Old and New Songs
The Faces originally announced in the summer of 2021 that they were working on new music. The upcoming record will mark their first album since 1973’s Ooh La La. According to Kenney Jones, the project blends past and present creative elements. Speaking to Uncut magazine, Jones explained, “What we’ve decided to do is work on some of the original stuff that we didn’t use, so the album is going to be a mixture of old and new.”
Elaborating further, he added, “The songs we’ve been revisiting are from right across the board. It’s very difficult to go into specifics because many of them didn’t even have titles. I think the fans may have heard certain things before and might recognize them. Ronnie and I, in particular, have been working on lots of the old stuff together, and we’ve re-recorded a couple of those songs with more of a modern feel.”
A Musical Revival
The Faces’ return has sparked excitement among fans eager for fresh tunes and nostalgic moments. Although the full album is yet to take shape, the band’s blending of new songs and reimagined classics hints at an exciting revival for one of rock’s most iconic groups.
