Eric Clapton Proves His Musical Immortality With New Album

Eric Clapton has exciting news for fans: a new album titled Meanwhile will be released digitally on October 4, with CD and vinyl versions arriving on January 24, 2025. This album features 14 tracks, including eight songs Clapton has previously shared as singles. The LP opens with “Pompous Fool” and includes “Heart of a Child,” both of which have already gained attention.

The Album’s Highlights

Among the album’s highlights are collaborations with renowned artists such as Van Morrison, Bradley Walker, Judith Hill, Daniel Santiago, Simon Climie, and a special appearance by the late Jeff Beck on “Moon River,” originally released last year. Meanwhile is Clapton’s first full-length, non-holiday album since I Still Do in 2016. He did, however, release the Christmas-themed Happy XMas in 2018.

In addition to the upcoming album, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2023 album is set to be released on November 29. This all-star project includes performances from Clapton himself, along with contributions from Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Santana, and other notable artists.

Clapton’s Upcoming Tour

Eric Clapton is also embarking on a long-awaited South American tour, marking his first performance in the region in 13 years. The tour kicks off with stops in cities like Buenos Aires and São Paulo, followed by a single show in Mexico City. Afterward, Clapton returns to the U.S. for three concerts in California. Gary Clark Jr. will open the South American shows, while Jimmie Vaughan takes over for the California leg.

Clapton’s final appearance of this tour will be at the Life Is a Carnival – A Tribute to Robbie Robertson event at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on October 17. His current band lineup features talented musicians, including bassist Nathan East, guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, drummer Sonny Emory, keyboardists Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon, and backing vocalists Sharon White and Katie Kissoon.
