Eric Clapton and Roger Taylor Set to Perform at Gary Brooker Tribute Concert

A heartfelt tribute to the late Gary Brooker, the beloved singer and pianist of Procol Harum, is set to shine with star-studded performances by music legends like Eric Clapton, Queen’s Roger Taylor, and Genesis’ Mike Rutherford.
The special event, titled “Remembering Gary Brooker,” is scheduled for December 4th and will take place at the G Live Arts Center in Guildford, England.

Gary Brooker, a founding member of Procol Harum, passed away in February 2022 at the age of 76. The band announced his sad departure with deep regret, sharing that he had peacefully passed away at home while receiving cancer treatment.
Procol Harum made music history with their debut single, “A Whiter Shade of Pale,” which soared to the number one spot on the UK charts in 1967. Although they didn’t replicate the same level of commercial success, the band earned a reputation as a dynamic live act and a pioneering force in the world of proto-progressive rock.

“Gary’s charisma was by no means confined to the stage,” Procol Harum said in their statement. “He lit up any room he entered, and his kindness to a multilingual family of fans was legendary. He was notable for his individuality, integrity and occasionally stubborn eccentricity. His mordant wit, and appetite for the ridiculous, made him a priceless raconteur (and his surreal inter-song banter made a fascinating contrast with the gravitas of Procol Harum’s performances).”
