Danielle Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, is fiercely contesting the court-approved auction of Presley’s iconic Graceland mansion in Tennessee.

Keough, an actress, assumed control of the mansion and much of her grandfather’s estate following the 2023 passing of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley. In a new lawsuit, Keough alleges that the creditor behind the foreclosure claim used forged signatures to advance their interests.

Back in 2018, Lisa Marie Presley secured a $3.8 million loan with Graceland as collateral through Naussany Investments and Private Lending. However, Keough’s lawsuit claims that her mother never signed these documents, the notary public never notarized them, and the creditor company doesn’t exist. This adds a layer of intrigue and suspicion to the case, raising questions about the legitimacy of the foreclosure proceedings. Keough’s lawsuit asserts (via CNN):

“These documents are fraudulent.
“Lisa Marie Presley never borrowed money from Naussany Investments and never gave a deed of trust to Naussany Investments. [Naussany Investments] appears to be a false entity created for the purpose of defrauding.”

Supporting Keough’s claims, Elvis Presley Enterprises, the entity managing Graceland, issued a statement confirming the fraudulent nature of the foreclosure claims:

“Elvis Presley Enterprises can confirm that these claims are fraudulent. There is no foreclosure sale. Simply put, the counter lawsuit that has been filed is to stop the fraud.”

Despite the serious allegations, Naussany Investments has not yet responded to the lawsuit. A hearing regarding Keough’s claim is scheduled for Wednesday, just one day before the planned auction. This timing is critical as it may influence the immediate future of Graceland and its place in the Presley legacy.

Keough’s legal battle to protect her grandfather’s legacy underscores the complexity and challenges of maintaining and managing such a historically significant estate. Graceland, a symbol of Elvis Presley’s enduring impact on music and culture, remains a crucial part of the Presley family’s heritage. As Keough faces these legal challenges, her efforts highlight the ongoing responsibility of preserving the legacy of one of music’s most iconic figures.

This situation not only puts a spotlight on the potential legal loopholes in estate management but also emphasizes the lengths to which heirs must go to safeguard their family’s legacy.
