American Idol has had a lot of different judges over the years. Some were great choices, some were strange, and some famous people just didn’t do well as judges. Elton John, a singer who would have been great as a judge on American Idol, was offered “$33 Million” to be on the show, but he said no because he didn’t really want to be a judge.

American Idol has been showcasing fresh talent to the world since it first aired in 2002. One of the things that makes the show interesting is its constantly changing group of judges.

It all began with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson, and since then, they have had other judges like Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Steven Tyler, Keith Urban, Ellen DeGeneres, and Harry Connick Jr.

According to TheThings.com, John was considered to be a potential judge for American Idol. The TV network Fox made a very big and tempting offer to him, but he decided to decline the opportunity.

Based on some reports, it was said that John was considered to take over for Cowell, who left the show in 2010. It’s not very surprising that John isn’t interested in becoming a judge, given that the British singer has made negative comments about the series in the past. John once claimed that the show was “racist” because three black girls he really liked consistently ended up in the bottom three saying:

“These three girls would have the talent to be members of The Royal Academy or Juilliard.

“They have great voices. The fact that they are constantly in the bottom three, and I don’t want to set myself up here, I find it incredibly racist.”
