Elton John Follows Up Iconic Farewell Tour With A New Book

Elton John, despite concluding his touring career, is revisiting the memories of his final journey on the road through a new book titled Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life on Tour.

Expressing his excitement on Instagram, John revealed that the book takes readers behind the scenes of his farewell tour, covering various locations from Allentown, PA, to Stockholm, Sweden. The book not only delves into stories and memories from the tour but also includes exclusive photographs and memorabilia, providing fresh insights into his life on the road.

Scheduled for release on September 24, Farewell Yellow Brick Road will highlight specific concerts from John’s five-year farewell tour, including the November 2022 performance at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, which was livestreamed on Disney+. Additionally, the book features reflections on the early days of John’s career and a foreword by his husband, manager, and tour creative director, David Furnish. The Record-Breaking Farewell Tour and Post-Touring Activities

Elton John achieved remarkable success with the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, spanning from September 2018 to July 2023, with a total of 330 shows. The tour grossed $939 million, momentarily claiming the title of the highest-grossing tour, though Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour quickly surpassed this record.

Despite retiring from touring, the 76-year-old musician remains active. His “Farewell From Dodger Stadium” TV special recently won an Emmy, making him one of the select 19 EGOTs who have secured an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

In November, John announced the completion of a new album with long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin, a recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. During Taupin’s induction, John shared that the album, crafted in Los Angeles, is filled with youthful energy and vitality, offering a surprising and wonderful experience for fans after their 56-year partnership.
