In a remarkable achievement, Elton John joined the esteemed group of EGOT winners by securing an Emmy award on January 15th. The renowned artist clinched the prestigious accolade for his TV special, “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,” which captivated audiences in 2022.

Elton John’s EGOT status is conferred by his collection of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, making him one of the 19 EGOTs with competitive wins.

Additionally, six others hold all four awards, with one being honorary or non-competitive in nature.

Including his recent Emmy, Elton John boasts six Grammy Awards garnered throughout his illustrious career. His two Oscars were earned for Best Original Song, recognizing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King and “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman. Furthermore, he secured a Tony Award for Best Original Score for the musical Aida.

Expressing his gratitude, Elton John remarked,

“I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight. The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world.”

The Emmy-winning concert at Dodger Stadium marked Elton John’s final performance in the U.S. as part of his completed farewell tour. During the nearly three-hour show, he reflected on his enduring connections with Los Angeles, reminiscing about his first American show at the Troubador and the iconic 1975 Dodger Stadium extravaganza that solidified his status as a global rock icon.

Expressing his gratitude to American fans, Elton John declared during the 2022 performance,

“I became successful first in America. So I want to thank you for that. You made me. Without America, I wouldn’t be here.”
