Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder previewed his upcoming solo album with its first single, “Long Way”. His new LP via Seattle Surf/Republic, “Earthling”, doesn’t have a release date yet. This follows 2007’s “Into the Wild” soundtrack and 2011’s “Ukelele Songs”. The song comes in a special limited-edition 7-inch vinyl with a B-side titled “The Haves”, and it’s available for preorder.

This is Vedder’s first collaboration with producer Andrew Watt. Meanwhile, the rocker will be featured on Elton John’s star-studded new album, “The Lockdown Sessions”. He will appear on “E-Ticket”.

Vedder also teamed up with Glen Hansard for the soundtrack for Flag Day, a film directed by Sean Penn. There are eight songs that Vedder co-wrote and performed with Hansard, one of them – “My Father’s Daughter” – featured Vedder’s daughter, Olivia.

He’s kept himself busy throughout the pandemic. In December, he released a six-track EP “Matter of Time” which included stripped-back renditions of Pearl Jam classics and a cover version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Growin’ Up”. And as for Pearl Jam, they’re slated to perform at Sea.Hear.Now. Festival on September 18, Ohana Festival on September 26, and Ohana Festival’s Encore Weekend on October 1 and 2.

Vedder will play a solo set at Ohana Festival on September 25.
