He Also Wanted One With Robert Johnson
Scottish actor Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who, is a fan of rock ‘n roll. It’s pretty evident in the fact that his iconic outfit was inspired by Twin Peaks creator, David Lynch, and musician David Bowie. He also wanted an episode where Doctor Who invented the wah pedal and gave it to Jimi Hendrix.
“Between my first and second seasons, I said it’d be fun if the Doctor had a guitar to plug into the Tardis console,” Capaldi told Guardian in a new interview. “It was just an idea, I never dreamed it would happen. I imagined the Doctor might have invented the wah-wah pedal. We could’ve done an historical episode where he met Jimi Hendrix and introduced him to this piece of alien technology.”
“I also thought there could be a great blues episode,” he continued. “When Robert Johnson meets the devil at the crossroads, the Doctor could discover something extraterrestrial going on.”
As it happens, the 63-year-old actor is releasing his first solo album titled “St Christopher.” He recently completed working on the record with the help of his friend Dr. Robert from the Blow Monkeys.
