Matthew Perry’s Assistant Was The One Who Got Him Outside The Water
Additional details emerged on Tuesday concerning the frantic efforts made by Matthew Perry’s assistant to save the actor’s life.
Upon returning to Perry’s Pacific Palisades residence after running errands, the assistant discovered Perry submerged in his hot tub. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Perry had not been in the hot tub for an extended period, and his body had not absorbed a significant amount of water.
Perry’s assistant managed to lift his head above the water and get him to the edge of the hot tub. Given Perry’s unconscious state, one person alone would not have been able to lift him from the hot tub.
Firefighters intervened, extracting the actor from the jacuzzi and conducting a swift medical assessment, which sadly confirmed his passing.
The fire department clarified that, even though Perry was found in the hot tub, no definitive conclusion has been reached regarding whether he drowned.
While the assistant’s identity has not been disclosed, former assistant Briana Brancato, who worked for Perry for seven years, paid tribute to the beloved actor. She shared photos of happier times with Perry on social media and wrote, “My heart is heavy, but celebrating my memories is the most profound way to honor his legacy. You’ll forever be in my heart. I love you, Matty.”
In his memoir, Perry wrote about his first encounter with Brancato, who was working at a rehab center at the time. He described her as wonderful in every way and recounted how he recruited her as his assistant, with their bond evolving into a deep friendship.
Perry’s memoir has surged to the number one spot on the Amazon bestsellers list, displacing Britney Spears’ recently released tell-all book from the top position.
Perry’s “Friends” castmates have spoken out about his passing two days after the event, a delay that has raised questions.
In a joint statement, they expressed their profound grief and the need to take a moment to mourn and process the overwhelming loss, promising to share more at a later time when they are ready.
Variety magazine TV editor Michael Schneider noted that the “Friends” cast were genuine friends in real life, which has made Perry’s death especially challenging for them to comprehend.
The news has reported Jennifer Aniston as being particularly shaken by the sudden loss, while David Schwimmer was photographed in New York, concealing his identity with a mask and a low-pulled hat.
Fans of the show have been deeply affected by Perry’s passing, finding solace in the “Friends” theme song and sharing their renditions of the feel-good anthem on social media.
