It Might Drop On October 6

Deep Purple has just dropped a hint about their possible upcoming album. They haven’t made any announcement yet, but they launched a new website TurningToCrime.com and the five members – Ian Paice, Steve Morse, Ian Gillan, Donald Airey and Roger Glover – appear on mugshot photos on the homepage. There’s also a countdown timer that will hit zero on October 6. There are no other details on the site.

Late last year, bassist Roger Glover revealed that they were planning a new project.

“All this COVID situation has meant that we can’t tour,” he shared. “We’re twiddling our thumbs, really, for over a year, and the idea was to possibly go back in and do another album. And so we’re just working towards that.”

“It’s so quick after we’d done the last album,” he continued. “Maybe that will spoil things, but we’re gonna try and do another album at some point next year. We’re experimenting with stuff.”

Deep Purple’s latest album, “Whoosh!”, was just released in 2020. Their 21st album quashed rumors about retirement after they embarked on a trek they dubbed as “The Long Goodbye.” In 2012, the band reunited with producer Bob Ezrin whom drummer Ian Paice credited as making everything “quick” and “efficient”.
