A hardcore metalhead has cranked his love for the genre up to eleven by transforming his late uncle’s skeleton into a one-of-a-kind guitar. Talk about a head-banging way to honor a loved one!
From Greece to Guitar Strings

Meet Prince Midnight, a Florida guy with a passion for metal and a wild idea. His uncle Filip, who died in a car crash in Greece, was the guy who first got him hooked on heavy metal. After Filip’s bones were donated to a college, they eventually made their way to Prince in the U.S. When the box arrived, Prince was stumped. “So, I got the box of bones from Greece and didn’t know what to do at first. Bury them? Cremate them? Put them in the attic? All seemed like poor ways to memorialize someone who got me into heavy metal,” he told Metal Sucks.

Building a Bone-Chilling Axe

Turning Uncle Filip’s skeleton into a guitar wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. “So, I decided to turn Uncle Filip into a guitar, which proved to be challenging,” Prince said. “I did a lot of research and no one has ever made a guitar out of a skeleton. So, I did it.” He reached out to some pros at Dean Guitars’ woodshop in Tampa, but they backed out. Undeterred, Prince rolled up his sleeves and got to work, crafting a guitar that’s as unique as it is spooky.

Shredding for Eternity

Now, Uncle Filip’s legacy lives on in the most metal way possible. “Anyways, now Uncle Filip can shred for all eternity. That’s how he would want it. I’m super proud of the project and how it serves to honour him, his life and his influence on me,” Prince shared. Want to see this wild creation in action? It’s a tribute that’s loud, proud, and totally metal!
