“There’s a Starman….”
Last year, the world lost an iconic rock legend in David Bowie. David passed away in January of last year, and his legacy is truly inspiring, and he was so influential. He inspired many artists in today’s music world, and encouraged performers to take risks out pf their comfort zones, and not be afraid of what others judge of you.
One of Bowie’s most iconic tunes is “Starman,” and recently, the original lyrics for the song were leaked! The original lyric sheet is set to go up for sale at an upcoming auction in Los Angeles. The piece of paper is expected to sell for almost $6,000, and is certified authentic. The lyrics on the paper actually match up the recording pretty closely, however there are some noticeable differences.
For example, the song actually says “Some cat was layin’ down some get it on rock ‘n’ roll, he said,” but it was originally written as “Some cat was layin down some rock ‘n’ roll, ‘lotta soul, he said.”
Another example is the line “Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase haze,” which was originally written as “Came back on a wave of phase.”
If you have an extra $6,000 laying around, you could see all of the lyric changes to this classic rock staple!
