Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen chatted with Noise11 earlier this year and revisited the time he hung out with AC/DC’s Angus and Malcolm Young, Bon Scott and Cliff Williams.

This happened in 1979 when Angus, Malcolm, and Cliff went to his house.

“I was the first guy to ever take Bon Scott have Mexican food; he had a taco and Scotch,” Rick recalled. “They were sweet guys. We loved them. There is a version of us doing ‘Johnny B. Goode’, with Robin (Zander) and Bon singing and Angus playing with us.”

Interestingly, that particular jam made its rounds online. And that night started a friendship between the rockers that would last for decades.

“Last time I saw them, right before Malcolm had died, I went to see them on the last show of the tour in Nashville,” Rick revealed. “And the friend that I flew down with and myself were the only guys they allowed backstage. I walked in, and they said, ‘Hey, Rick, you’re still living in Rockford?’ ‘Yeah, I am.’ [Laughs] They’re sweet guys.”

Last July 9 would have been Bon Scott’s 75th birthday. And in honor of the rock legend and his legacy, his estate launched his first official website.
