CAUGHT ON TAPE: Led Zeppelin Performs “Sitting And Thinking” For One Night Only

Performing at the Filmore West jammin’ around, Led Zeppelin covers epic Buddy Guy blues jam “Sitting And Thinking,”or “Sittin’ Here Thinkin,”on the 27th of April, 1969. Luckily for us, some random, kind stranger got his hands on the sound board from the show with a tape “First North American Tour” etched across it and shared with the rest of the world through YouTube.

Interesting Fact: It was during this period that Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page switched from using his Telecaster to his signature Gibson Les Paul, whilst also incorporating the use of Marshall amplifiers.

The set list of the tour consisted of many Zeppelin greats like “Dazed and Confused,” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You,” “Whole Lotta Love” and others, but only the people that were lucky enough to attend the Filmore on April 27th, were lucky enough to hear “Sitting And Thinking,” as it was the only live set they ever played of it in the U.S. – EVER.

As this severely rare clip features a young, untampered Robert Plant, the vocals on this particular set are absolutely killer and of the rarest left of the rock star. Not to mention Page’s epic solo 2:54 in that could literally melt the face off of any human, ever. Enjoy this gift.
