Carlos Santana was hospitalized just hours before his April 22 concert in San Antonio. According to the San Antonio Fire Department, the legendary guitarist was dealing with a “non-life-threatening condition.” Thankfully, it seems he’s on the mend.
Manager Confirms Dehydration Scare
Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, shared a statement on the venue’s website, explaining what happened:
“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed. Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour. Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”
TMZ also reported the incident, sharing a video that showed Santana being taken from the venue in an ambulance.
This Isn’t the First Health Scare
Unfortunately, Santana has struggled with dehydration on tour before. He passed out from heat exhaustion and dehydration back on the stage in Detroit on July 5, 2022. After recovering from the incident, he resumed performing after having to postpone several gigs.
And earlier this year, he had to push back the start of a Las Vegas residency after suffering a fall at home.
What’s Next for Santana?
Despite this latest setback, Santana isn’t slowing down just yet. His next show is still scheduled for April 23 in Sugarland, Texas. Whether that performance will go ahead remains to be seen, but fans are sending their well wishes and hoping for his quick recovery.
For now, it’s clear that Carlos Santana is taking the right steps for his health—and plans to be back rocking stages again soon.
