Many rock artists have wrapped up their careers with farewell tours in recent years, but Bruce Springsteen has no plans to follow suit. During his latest concert at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, he made his stance clear: “We’ve been around for 50 fuckin’ years, and we ain’t quitting!”
Springsteen exclaimed:
“We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullshit! Jesus Christ! No farewell tour for the E Street Band! Farewell to what? A thousand people screaming your name? Get the hell out. I ain’t going anywhere!”
Springsteen’s Ongoing Tour Journey
The past few years haven’t been easy for Springsteen on the road. In 2023, he had to postpone 20 concerts to undergo treatment for peptic ulcer disease. On top of that, he faced a vocal issue that caused him to delay several European shows earlier this year. Springsteen shared on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio:
“My diaphragm was hurting so badly that when I went to make the effort to sing, it was killing me.
“I literally couldn’t sing at all, and that lasted for two or three months, along with just a myriad of other painful problems.”
But despite all these health challenges, Springsteen returned to the stage on June 12 and has been performing ever since. As expected, The Boss and his band delivered electrifying performances that delighted the fans that Friday night, clearly showing that he’s still committed to his music. His next show is set for September 7 in Washington, D.C. True to his word, The Boss has no intention of stepping away from the stage anytime soon.
Springsteen’s love for the stage is evident as he continues touring with the band, proving that even after 50 years, he’s not ready to say goodbye. For Springsteen and E Street fans, they can brace themselves for more high-energy performances, because as The Boss said, they ain’t going anywhere.
