Gotta Love Technology – Check It Out

Queen guitarist Brian May jams with his younger self in the new video for “Back To The Light”. The song originally appeared on his debut solo LP of the same name, and in celebration of its reissue, he travelled back in time to perform with himself. The clip below shows May entering an empty concert venue and he sees his 45-year-old self performing the track at London’s Hammersmith Odeon with drummer Cozy Powell and bassist Neil Murray in front of a packed audience. They then trade licks and verses.

“I feel kind of affectionate looking back,” May told Rolling Stone. “Looking back at me 30 years ago, a young man with no idea of the incredible journey that was still to come.”

The video ends with modern-day May putting his arm around the 1992 version of himself.

“I’ve polished up the three original videos from 1992,” he explained, “but the Back To The Light video is brand new – a short film with a story to tell.”

“Back to the Light” was his first non-Queen project following the death of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. It was a pretty tough time for May as he was still dealing with Mercury’s death.
