Brian Johnson Reveals Crystallized Fluids “Had Been Eating Away At My Ear..”

Remember what you felt when you first heard Brian Johnson had to stop touring ASAP or risk losing his hearing? Yeah, I kinda cried for the rest of the day. But what exactly happened?

According to Brian, one of the main factors which contributed to the acceleration of his hearing loss was the formation of crystallized fluids which he said “had been eating away at my ear.” It actually began 8 years ago when Brian, who is an avid car enthusiast by the way, attended a race in New York and forgot to put his earplugs. If you’ve been to any similar race, you know how unbelievably loud the roaring engines can be. So Brian experienced a POP in his ear and eventually suffered tinnitus or buzzing in his ears. Though it cleared up, he eventually noticed that he can now hear less in his left ear.

During their Winnipeg live show, he caught colds and “…the fluids went up into my sinuses and around my ear”. This propelled him to seek consultation from an ENT specialist. And we all know what happened next. Nevertheless, Brian has this to say about his band:

“I had so many good times with the boys,” Johnson said. “And I’ve had such a lucky and great life. And I’m just thankful really that I came out of it in one piece. Now I guess I could rest me socks off.”
