David Bowie has made a huge impact on the music charts, with nineteen albums reaching the top 100 in the UK in the week following his passing. His latest album, “Blackstar,” came out just two days before he died on January 8. It climbed to number one on the charts, selling 150,000 copies in its first week. According to the Official Charts, Bowie was already on track to reach the top spot before he passed away from cancer earlier this week.

Many of Bowie’s previous albums have re-entered the charts as well. Albums like “Hunky Dory,” “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” and “Nothing Has Changed” are among those making a comeback. “Nothing Has Changed,” which is a greatest hits collection, came in at number five.

Increased Popularity and Final Farewell

Bowie’s singles have also gained popularity this week. Songs like “Heroes” reached number 11, “Life On Mars” climbed to number 16, and there are eleven other singles in the UK top 100.

Over his career, Bowie released 27 studio albums, 120 singles, and a variety of compilations and live albums.

Reports indicate that David Bowie was cremated in New York without any friends and family present, which was his wish. He wanted “to go without any fuss,” a source revealed to two UK newspapers. Bowie passed away on Sunday, January 10, after an 18-month battle with cancer. There have been reports suggesting he “died from liver cancer” after enduring “six heart attacks.”
