Jon Bon Jovi debuted his newly-released song “Legendary” at the 2024 MusiCares award on Friday evening.
The singer accepted the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala and a stellar lineup of musicians honored him that night. Bon Jovi told the crowd:
“I want to remind you, this here’s a Bon Jovi concert. We don’t sit down.”
Legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen performed and paid tribute to Bon Jovi, as well as Jelly Roll, Sammy Hagar, Melissa Etheridge, and Damiano David, among others.
Springsteen and Bon Jovi even teamed up on stage for renditions of “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” and “The Promised Land.” While Hagar and Orianthi played “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and Mammoth WVH put their spin on “It’s My Life.”
During their performance, Bon Jovi mentioned the recent passing of Springsteen’s mother and said:
“Bruce’s mom passed two days ago, and when I first got the news he was already on the airplane here.
“I certainly would’ve understood if he’d said he couldn’t make it. But he wanted to be here tonight for MusiCares and he wanted to be here tonight for me, and I am forever grateful to you for everything.”
