If Ya Come And Rock With Me!

“Thunderbird” is the first track of ZZ Top’s fourth album “Fandango!” It was released on April 18, 1975 and was actually performed and originally written by The Nightcaps. Though they included it in their album, “Wine, Wine, Wine” they failed to apply and register for copyright. When ZZ Top started playing their own version (which was both musically and lyrically similar to the original), they were sued by The Nightcaps but the case was dismissed because it was ZZ Top who registered for copyright.

This live jam was featured in the online series “Live from Daryl’s House” which aired 8 years ago and features Daryl Hall along with his band members playing with guests. It’s a refreshingly wonderful alternative to studio sessions and his guests often include established popular musicians or newbies. He has performed with Neon Trees, Joe Walsh, Sammy Hagar, and Ben Folds to name a few.

Daryl Hall started Live From Daryl’s House, the free monthly web show in late 2007, after having the idea of “playing with my friends and putting it up on the Internet.”

This is one of the greatest jams we’ve ever seen — it’s relaxed and absolutely enjoyable. What an awesome concept!
