The Ultimate Bluesman Making His Guitar Sing

You can’t help but fall in love with each song that B.B. King performs may it be an original or a cover version. He always manages to add his own flavor and make it easy for listeners to recognize him. Though it was the song “3 O’ Clock Blues” that made him prominent in the music industry, “You Upset Me Baby” also became an unforgettable and timeless classic. It was a chart-topper and further added to the list of favorite tracks by his fans.

Through it all he’s remained faithful to the blues while keeping abreast of contemporary trends and deftly incorporating other favored forms – jazz and pop, for instance – into his musical overview. Much like such colleagues and contemporaries as Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker, B.B. King managed to change with the changing times while adhering to his blues roots.

With his incredible string bends and vibrato, the King and Lucille have dominated the blues genre for years. His music has stood the test of time and up until now, no one can come close to his talent and skills. His tone is not just regal but is very unique in itself. He has amassed an impressive number of global hits that made him an international phenomenon.

In 2004 he was awarded the international Polar Music Prize, given to artists “in recognition of exceptional achievements in the creation and advancement of music.”
