All The Number 1 Hits Ringo Starr Wrote
Do you ever wonder how many number 1 hits did Ringo Starr have?
The name Ringo Starr is definitely an all-too-familiar name for everyone, and it’s much because of the talent he showed throughout the years as a Beatle. Aside from drumming duties, he also occasionally sang lead vocals on a few tracks for the iconic band—but what many of their audience overlook most of the time is that Starr is also a songwriting prowess.
After The Beatles’ break-up in the year 1970, it’s no doubt that the drummer will continue on his music career; indeed, Starr released a handful of successful singles and 20 studio albums since 1970 up until last year. Although being the only Beatle that hasn’t garnered a #1 spot in the Britain charts, he absolutely took his rightful place at the top in the US Billboard charts not only once, but TWICE.
His first #1 hit was the single “Photograph,” which was co-written by himself and George Harrison. It found its spot on the week of November 24, 1973, and remained at the top for one week. The track was included in his highest-charting album RINGO, which was a surefire hit in both the US and the UK.
Starr’s second single to reach the #1 spot was a remake of “You’re Sixteen.” Also included in the RINGO album, the track dominated the US charts on the week of January 26, 2974 and had a week-long stay as well.
It’s true enough that his self-titled LP was a commercial success, and it definitely showcased how immensely talented Ringo Starr is. He isn’t showing any sign of stopping his music career—even recently announced his intentions to tour again this year—and we are here for it.
