Aerosmith – “Permanent Vacation” Live
The Sky’s The Limit!
“Permanent Vacation” was written by Steven Tyler and Brad Whitford and is the title track for Aerosmith’s ninth studio album. It was released on August 31, 1987 under Geffen Records. The album received a rating of four out of five stars from Allmusic.
- Number 11 on the US Billboard 200
- Number 7 on the Canada RPM 100 Albums
The song is about retiring to the tropics, but it also deals with the band getting sober from drugs (“My nose is clean and lordy, don’t need no sedation…”), which was no small feat considering their copious cocaine habits in the ’70s and early ’80s.
Although it wasn’t a big hit like their other songs, this became a staple in their concert repertoire especially during their Permanent Vacation and Pump tours. On February 10, 1995; the album received 5x Platinum Certification from the RIAA!
This song was one of the last ones written for the album, and it provided the title for the disk.
Now here’s the perfect summer soundtrack!
