Ace Frehley, former guitarist for the legendary rock band KISS, recently shared his thoughts on the band’s farewell tour, shedding light on his departure and praising the intelligence of his own fans. In an interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Frehley expressed relief that KISS’ farewell tour had finally concluded, accusing his former bandmates, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, of intentionally misleading fans about his absence since 2002.

Frehley revealed his frustration with the need to repeatedly explain to people that he was no longer a member of KISS.

He suggested that KISS employed a deliberate strategy to downplay his departure.

“A lot of Kiss fans aren’t the brightest people of the world [while] Ace fans are sharp,” he remarked. “And a lot of people don’t even know it.”

Reflecting on his second departure from the band, Frehley explained,

“When I quit the band the second time, they kind of buried it and really didn’t make a big press release about it… Tommy [Thayer] was wearing my makeup, and they kind of just wanted people to think that maybe it was still Ace Frehley.”

Frehley, who recently watched a KISS show on YouTube, expressed disappointment with the performance.

“I think the fans go for the show– but now, with the canned vocals… I mean, I couldn’t believe it.” He specifically criticized Paul Stanley’s performance, stating, “He was like dancing around on this platform. And that’s absolutely bewildering to me… that’s like me performing ‘Shock Me’ and not singing it!”

Emphasizing his relief that the farewell tour would soon be over.

Regarding KISS’ announcement of a “new era” as a virtual band, Frehley expressed disinterest, saying,

“I don’t get it, I don’t wanna get it.”

In the midst of the KISS farewell tour saga, Ace Frehley recently released the title track to his upcoming album, “10,000 Volts,” marking his return with a collection of original music after a five-year hiatus.
