Scott McCaughey, a musician known for his work with bands like Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5, Baseball Project, and The Filthy Friends, has recently released a tribute album to Neil Young titled NEIL (Vol. 2): Welcome To My Dream World. The album is available for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp.com.
McCaughey, who also played with R.E.M. from 1994 to 2011, suffered a stroke in 2017 that temporarily robbed him of the ability to talk, sing, and play instruments. As part of his rehabilitation, he began to reconnect with the music that had shaped his life, leading him to create a series of heartfelt tributes to Young.
The result is a series of sincere tributes to Young, stemming from Scott’s unwavering desire to capture the essence of the music that profoundly influenced him. This musical journey began in early 2020 with the release of NEIL (Vol. 1) and continues now with the unveiling of NEIL (Vol. 2): Welcome To My Dream World.
This album goes beyond being a mere collection of covers; it represents a musical renaissance, a testament to the enduring power of artistic expression in the face of adversity. Scott’s meticulous attention to detail, combined with Mike McCready’s evocative guitar work, weaves together a sonic dreamscape that pays homage to Young’s influential body of work.
NEIL (Vol. 2) is an immersive experience that invites listeners to step into the dream world curated by Scott The Hoople, where the spirit of Young’s musical legacy lives on in each note and lyric.
