A Highway Will Be Named After Prince

According to the latest report from Deadline Hollywood, the late legendary musician Prince will be honored by having a segment of a Minnesota highway named after him.

This particular stretch of road spans seven miles and passes by Prince’s former Paisley Park headquarters located near Minneapolis.

The designated section of Minnesota State Highway 5, which runs through the suburban regions of Chanhassen and Eden Prairie, will be officially known as the Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway, in tribute to the musician’s birth name.

AP News reported that the road’s name will be indicated by signs displaying a distinct shade of purple associated with Prince. Republican state Senator Julia Coleman, the main sponsor of the name change bill, mentioned this detail.

Coleman praised Prince as a brilliant and visionary artist who revolutionized music and crossed cultural boundaries. She emphasized that Prince’s influence can be heard in the work of numerous musicians who followed in his footsteps, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of artists.

Coleman further clarified that the expenses for renaming the road would be covered by Prince’s friends and family. Prince, originally named Prince Rogers Nelson, passed away in 2016 at the age of 57, reportedly due to a drug overdose.

In the 1980s, Prince, a well-known singer, and songwriter, wowed audiences with songs like “Purple Rain” and “Kiss.” As a multi-instrumentalist and boundary-pushing artist, his musical genius extended beyond chart-topping success.
