73-Year-Old Grandma Picks Up Guitar To Play, Then This Happens… | Society Of Rock Videos

Rock On, Grandma Mary. Rock On.

At 73, “Grandma” Mary Ho of Singapore isn’t your average grandma. She’s got 7 grandkids, but when she’s not doing traditional grandma things, she’s picking up her guitar and picking out some of the most soulful music you’ve ever heard. Armed with her favorite gold Paul Reed Smith guitar, Grandma Mary delivers an incredible performance of Little Willie John’s blues standard, ‘Need Your Love So Bad’; can you believe she’s only been playing for a few years? Absolutely outstanding.

Fun Fact: Grandma Mary started playing when she was 60. What started as leisurely strumming soon developed into electric lead guitar solo playing.

This impromptu performance is what it’s all about; feeling the music so deeply that you just have to express yourself somehow. The fact that Mary is a phenomenal musician despite only having played for a handful of years is just an added bonus. We wish this lovely lady the best of luck with her career in Singapore as an accomplished guitarist, and we’re sure her family is beyond proud of her!
