10-Year-Old Girl Performs Epic Cover Of Rush’s “La Villa Strangiato”

She Brings New Meaning To The Term, “Hits Like A Girl”
10-year-old Alexey Poblete continues to amaze with what she can do from behind her drum kit. Always appreciative of great music, she treated us to a fantastic cover of Rush’s ‘La Villa Strangiato,’ but with a slight twist – she dressed up for the occasion.
Deeply inspired by famed Rush drummer Neil Peart, Alexey paid tribute to her hero by sporting a Rush t-shirt and beanie similar to one worn by Peart during live shows, and blew us away with a rendition of ‘La Villa Strangiato’ that couldn’t possibly get any closer to the original!
Fun Fact: Neil Peart adores Alexey! After her ‘Tom Sawyer’ cover went viral, Peart recorded a video in response and praised Alexey’s fantastic ear for rhythm and incredible attention to detail.
She’s absolutely fantastic – beyond the grin stretched across her face as she plays, Alexey is incredibly gifted; she navigates those Peart fills almost flawlessly, and while she adds her own flavor in the form of substituting hi-hats for ride cymbals in certain places, her rendition stays remarkably true to the original. If this performance is any indication of what’s in store for Alexey as she gets older, then we’re sure her talent will take her to incredible heights!
