Willie Nelson Will Miss Outlaw Tour Because Of Doctor’s Order

The 91-year-old country music legend, Willie Nelson, has encountered a setback in his schedule as he won’t be able to kick off the 2024 Outlaw Music Festival Tour due to health reasons.

Scheduled to commence at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia on June 21 alongside music luminaries Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, and Celisse, Nelson’s absence was confirmed via a statement on his social media channels.

The announcement, posted by his team on Friday, explained:

“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well, and per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

In his place, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band, joined by special guests, will perform a set featuring Willie’s classics and other songs, ensuring fans are still treated to a memorable experience. Meanwhile, the tour’s lineup, including Dylan, Plant, Krauss, and Celisse, will proceed as planned.

Despite occasional health challenges, Nelson has continued to record new music and maintain an active touring schedule well into his later years. Over the years, he still kept himself busy even though he occasionally had to cancel shows due to various ailments.

The Outlaw Music Festival is set to span several months, culminating in a finale on September 20 in Gilford, New Hampshire. The lineup for select shows includes John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, and Southern Avenue, promising an eclectic mix of talent throughout the tour.

Adding to his illustrious career, Willie Nelson recently released his 152nd album, The Border, on March 31, 2024. This milestone underscores his enduring influence and creativity in country music, as celebrated by Legacy Recordings in a recent press release.
