On February 10, 2025, a jet crashed tragically at Scottsdale Airport, killing one person and injuring dozens more. When the private flight, which belonged to Vince Neil, the frontman of Mötley Crüe, landed, it veered off the runway and struck a parked plane. Luckily, Neil wasn’t on board when the crash occurred.
What Happened?
When the Learjet 35A had problems landing, it came from Austin, Texas. Airport officials said the plane lost control and collided with a stalled Gulfstream 200 business jet after the landing gear collapsed. The impact was strong, but emergency personnel raced to the scene.
Unfortunately, one of the passengers was declared dead on the spot. One passenger was hospitalized in stable condition, while two others suffered significant injuries and were transported to trauma units. Rain Hannah, Neil’s long-term girlfriend, was hurt as well with five broken ribs. There were no passengers on board the struck Gulfstream plane at the time.
Vince Neil Speaks Out
Following the accident, Mötley Crüe released a statement confirming Neil’s absence from the flight:
“Earlier today, a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ. The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince’s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life-threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries. Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon.”
Neil’s legal team also released a statement expressing his condolences and gratitude toward first responders:
“Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”
Investigation and Next Steps
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the crash. While initial reports suggest landing gear failure, officials are conducting a full analysis to determine the exact cause. Scottsdale Airport remains partially closed as authorities continue their work.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky extended her sympathies, stating:
“On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we offer our deepest condolences to those involved … We will keep all affected by this tragedy in our thoughts.”
As the investigation unfolds, Mötley Crüe has promised to help support the family of the deceased pilot. More updates are expected in the coming days.
