Stevie Nicks Kicks Off 2025 Tour With Magical Opening Night

After an unexpected injury forced a delay, Stevie Nicks launched her much-anticipated 2025 U.S. tour on Wednesday night with a powerful performance in Portland, Oregon. The show marked her first live appearance since canceling a string of summer dates — and proved well worth the wait.

A Delayed Start After Injury

Originally set to begin on August 8, the tour was postponed just a week prior when Nicks announced she had sustained a fractured shoulder. All dates scheduled for August and September were canceled, with promises to reschedule them at a later time.

Despite the setback, the Fleetwood Mac legend made a strong return, treating fans to a sweeping set that blended timeless classics with rarely performed gems. Her Portland performance marked a triumphant comeback, featuring signature songs from the Fleetwood Mac catalog alongside deeper cuts and new material.

Live Debuts and Rare Revivals

Among the highlights of the evening was the live debut of “The Lighthouse” — a song Nicks released in September 2024. Inspired by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the track channels her signature blend of ethereal vocals and political resonance.

Another standout moment was the unexpected performance of “Angel”, a song from 1979’s Tusk album that hadn’t been performed live since 1983. Its inclusion marked a rare and nostalgic return for longtime fans.

The Story Behind “Angel”

Originally the sixth and final single from Tusk, “Angel” was penned by Nicks about fellow Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood. It should not be confused with the track of the same name written by Bob Welch, which appeared on the band’s 1974 album Heroes Are Hard to Find.

“A song about Mick. Not so much my love affair with him,” Nicks explained in the liner notes for the 2015 expanded reissue of Tusk. “I was always taken with his style, and in those days he would walk in the room and I would just look up. I still look up when you walk in the room… I try not to reach out.”

She continued:

“It’s all about him and his crazy fob watch and his really beautiful clothes. He’s a very stylish individual and I was just this little California girl who’d never really known anybody like him.”

With her 2025 tour now officially underway, Stevie Nicks is once again proving her timeless appeal — and reminding audiences why she remains one of rock’s most iconic and compelling performers.
