A Granddaughter’s Goodbye

Sadie Robertson is remembering her grandfather, Phil Robertson, after his passing at age 79. She shared a heartfelt message on social media, reflecting on his life and their final moments together.

The “Duck Dynasty” star had been dealing with several health issues, including Alzheimer’s. Sadie, now 27, posted a tribute on Instagram along with old family pictures. She wrote, “’Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’ – 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬,” adding that her grandfather had already experienced this on earth through his faith.

Faith and Legacy

As she sat with Phil during his final moments, Sadie thought about how much he had changed over the years because of his beliefs. “He has already experienced this on earth—going from dead to alive by the power of Christ!” she said.

She also looked back on how Phil’s decision to start the Duck Commander hunting company changed their family forever. “It was his testimony that changed his life, our family’s life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. The new has come,” she wrote.

His Last Words

Sadie also shared what her grandfather said to her before passing. “One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!” she added. These words showed his spirit and his strong faith even near the end.

Phil’s daughter-in-law, Korie Robertson, also spoke about his death on Instagram. She said, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.”

Korie’s Tribute

Korie, who is 51, reminded followers of Phil’s deep belief in life after death. “He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

She also mentioned there would be a private funeral for family and close friends. A public celebration of his life will be announced at a later time.

A Lasting Impact

Korie thanked everyone for their kind words and support. “Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus,” she wrote.

She added that the family would continue to live out Phil’s values. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

Remembering His Example

The next day, Korie shared a set of family photos on Instagram. She said she would remember Phil “for showing us all how to live a life 💯 sold out on the greatest commandments: love for God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength and love for your neighbor as yourself.”

She expressed how proud she was of his life, sharing many photos of Phil surrounded by children, grandchildren, and relatives. “We honor you today and are so very happy, happy, happy for your life with the Father that you are experiencing now! What a life,” she wrote.

From Duck Calls to TV Fame

Phil Robertson started Duck Commander in 1972. His idea turned into a family business, and 40 years later, in 2012, it became a hit TV show. “Duck Dynasty” aired on A&E and ran until 2017.

Now, eight years after the show ended, the Robertsons are returning to television. A reboot called “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” is in the works, with 20 one-hour episodes planned across two seasons. The show is expected to premiere this summer.

The Next Generation

The new series will focus on Korie and her husband Willie Robertson. It will also feature their children and grandchildren, showing the next generation of Robertsons living in Louisiana. The show will follow their lives, businesses, and family traditions.

Returning to the series are familiar faces like Si Robertson and Miss Kay Robertson. Willie and Korie’s children—Sadie, John Luke, Will Jr., Bella, and Rebecca—will also appear in the new episodes.

Returning to A&E

Korie and Willie spoke about their excitement to return to A&E. In a statement, they said, “Going back on A&E feels a little like going back home. We’re thankful for all who have followed along as our family has grown and expanded and can’t wait to get cameras rolling again on all our new adventures, or perhaps misadventures.”

The network also shared their excitement. Elaine Frontain Bryant, an executive at A&E, said, “The Robertsons earned a seat in homes across the country with their unique brand of downhome practicality, southern charm and relatable humor.”

A Welcome Return

Bryant continued, saying that the show had been a big part of the network’s success in the past. “‘Duck Dynasty’ played a huge part of the success of A&E for many years, and we look forward to reuniting with the Robertsons on the revival,” she said.

Sadie also posted about the new show, telling fans, “Secret’s out! 🦆 Our family is going back home to A&E with #DuckDynasty: The Revival!”

Still the Same at Heart

She talked about how life has changed but still feels familiar. “It’s wild to think how much has changed, but also how much has stayed the same. New kids, new spouses, new businesses, new fun…ALL the generations and no end to the adventures (and yes, probably some misadventures too)! 😂”
