From unexpected falls to collapsing due to exhaustion, these incidents remind us of the physical demands of performing live. Here are ten notable instances where rock musicians took a tumble during their shows.

Dave Grohl (2015)

In 2015, Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl fell off the stage during a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden, breaking his leg. Despite the injury, he returned to finish the show after receiving medical attention. For the remainder of the tour, Grohl performed seated on a custom-made throne designed to accommodate his leg injury.

Frank Zappa (1971)

During a 1971 performance at London’s Rainbow Theatre, an audience member pushed Frank Zappa off the stage into the orchestra pit. Zappa sustained serious injuries, including fractures and a crushed larynx, which affected his vocal range.

Carlos Santana (2022)

In July 2022, guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed onstage during a concert in Michigan due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. He was taken to a hospital for observation and later recovered.
