Auction Highlights From Rock History
Items from The Beatles, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, and other major artists are featured in a new Marvels of Modern Music auction organized by RR Auctions. The event gathers rare recordings, signed releases, and artwork that show how modern music was created, shared, and preserved during its most important years.
One of the top items is an extremely rare EMI mono acetate pressing of The Beatles’ “Please Please Me,” cut at Abbey Road Studios. Another standout is an acetate of an unreleased version of “She’s a Woman,” which, according to the listing, “offers a rare window into The Beatles’ studio experimentation at the height of Beatlemania.”
Notable Pieces From Music Icons
The auction also includes a 1964 Gold record presented to Ringo Starr for A Hard Day’s Night. Collectors will also find a vintage pressing of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band signed by Ringo, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, making it one of the more sought-after pieces in the sale.
Beyond The Beatles, the collection reaches into other corners of music history. Bob Dylan is represented by a mixed media painting titled Side Tracks, offering a look at his work beyond songwriting. There is also a signed 1968 document from the Jimi Hendrix Experience, connecting the auction to the explosive late-1960s rock era. Together, these pieces reflect how musicians shaped culture through sound, image, and personal expression across generations.
