At Pompeii Reclaims the Top Spot
Pink Floyd is back at the top of a major music chart in the United Kingdom, the country where the band first started. The group recently earned another No. 1 album with At Pompeii – MCMLXXII. Now, about a month after it first came out, the album has returned to the No. 1 position. This return makes it one of the few albums by Pink Floyd to spend more than one week at the top of the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart.
At Pompeii moved up from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, which ranks the bestselling albums in those music genres in the U.K. Pink Floyd pushed Green Day’s Saviors out of the top spot. That album had also made it to No. 1 recently after its deluxe edition was released.

Joining Legendary Company
At Pompeii has now stayed on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart for five weeks, with two of those at No. 1. As it climbs back to the top, this live album becomes the third release by Pink Floyd to spend more than one week in the lead. It now stands alongside The Dark Side of the Moon, which ruled for 32 weeks, and The Endless River, which led for seven.
Four other albums by the group — Animals, The Division Bell, The Early Years – 1965–1972, and Transmissions + 1969 — each only spent one week at No. 1 on the same chart.
Climbing Other Charts Too
At Pompeii is also moving up on other U.K. charts. It climbed to No. 14 on the Official Physical Albums chart and No. 15 on the Official Albums Sales chart. This comes after the album previously held the top spot on those lists as well.
Other Albums Are Gaining as Well
Pink Floyd often has more than one album on the charts at the same time, and this week is no different. The Dark Side of the Moon appears on four different charts and is rising on most of them. It even returned to the top 10 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. Wish You Were Here appears on two charts, and The Wall has reentered the Official Rock & Metal Albums list, meaning Pink Floyd holds 10% of that entire chart right now.
