KISS frontman Paul Stanley had nothing but love for David Lee Roth’s recent comeback at the M3 Rock Festival. After watching Roth’s return performance, Stanley took to social media to share his enthusiasm.
Stanley said:
“I watched Diamond Dave’s return at M3 Festival and LOVED IT!
“Looks Great. Great staging. Great band. Great vibe.”
He went on to add:
“The whole thing was cool. Back-up posse too. Check it all out on YouTube. Welcome Back Dave!!”
Roth Returns After a Long Hiatus
David Lee Roth’s set at the M3 Festival marked his first live performance in years—and it was a big deal. According to American Songwriter, his last public appearance was back in March 2020, when he opened for KISS in Lubbock, Texas. That five-year break made his return all the more meaningful for longtime fans.
The M3 Festival, held at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, gave Roth the perfect stage for his reintroduction.
Classic Roth: High Energy, Big Personality
Roth didn’t disappoint. Backed by a five-piece band and four male backup singers, he delivered a 16-song set packed with Van Halen classics. He kicked off the show with a thunderous performance of “Panama.”
In true Diamond Dave fashion, he added a bit of his trademark humor during the song’s breakdown, quipping, “In the name of world peace, reach over and reach down between the legs of the person next to you.” The crowd loved it—and it set the tone for the rest of his high-energy show.
Still a Rockstar
Men’s Journal pointed out that Roth’s stage presence hadn’t faded a bit. Dressed in black leather and moving like a man half his age, he reminded everyone why he’s still one of rock’s most charismatic frontmen. After years away from the spotlight, David Lee Roth proved that he still knows how to command a stage. And with Paul Stanley giving him a big thumbs-up, it’s safe to say—Diamond Dave is officially back.
