Neil Young Set To Perform At Farm Aid After Series Of Cancellation

Neil Young is set to perform at this year’s Farm Aid festival on September 21 in Saratoga Springs, New York. This will be a notable appearance for Young, as it marks his return to the stage following the cancellation of his summer tour with Crazy Horse due to illness.

Joining Young at the festival are fellow Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews, as well as a diverse lineup including Mavis Staples, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson with the Travelin’ McCourys, Charley Crockett, Joy Oladokun, Southern Avenue, Cassandra Lewis, and Jesse Welles.

Willie Nelson, who organized the first Farm Aid in 1985, expressed enthusiasm about returning to New York. Nelson said in a statement via Rolling Stone:

“We’re energized to be back in New York.
“The farmers here have always found ways to innovate and contribute to their communities, even as they deal with uncertainties, extreme weather, and policies that favor corporations over people. Farmers need us to stand with them as they work to grow our future.”

Neil Young’s Recent Tour Cancellations

Young’s participation in Farm Aid this year is especially significant as it will be his first performance since his summer tour with Crazy Horse was postponed. The tour, which started in April, was cut short for health reasons. The band stated on Young’s website:

“We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again!
“We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is #1. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you… and for us.”

Tickets for Farm Aid will go on sale starting July 26, promising fans a memorable event filled with stellar performances and a continued focus on supporting American farmers.
