Kelly Osbourne stepped up in a big way last Friday (Oct 17), accepting a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her father, the one and only Ozzy Osbourne, at the Birmingham Awards.

The award, honoring Ozzy’s legendary impact on music and his deep ties to his hometown, was an emotional moment for both the Osbourne family and the city of Birmingham, where the Prince of Darkness was born and raised. Taking to Instagram after the ceremony, Kelly shared a heartfelt message:

“Last night I had the honor of accepting my father’s lifetime achievement award on his behalf… I know that my dad was shining down on us from heaven with pride because being a #Brummy meant more to him than anything.”

She closed with a simple, powerful message:

“This honor would have meant the world to him. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. #birminghamforever.”

A Final Goodbye to a Rock Legend

Ozzy passed away on July 22 at age 76, following a heart attack. Just two weeks earlier, he gave what would become his final performance: Back to the Beginning, a farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham. Fans were treated to two sets—one solo, and one with his Black Sabbath bandmates, reuniting the full original lineup onstage for the first time in nearly 20 years. The music world mourned, and fans turned out in the thousands as Ozzy’s funeral procession passed through Birmingham on July 30. Flowers were laid at the Black Sabbath Bridge, and the streets were packed with fans saying goodbye to a true rock icon.

Ozzy’s Legacy Lives On

If you’re not done celebrating Ozzy’s legacy (and let’s be honest, who is?), there’s more to dive into. Two documentaries dropped this month: Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home aired on BBC on October 2, while Ozzy: No Escape From Now premiered on Paramount+ on October 7. On the same day, Ozzy’s second memoir, Last Rites, was also released. And here’s something to keep an eye on—rumors are swirling that Back to the Beginning could become a full-on Ozzy concert franchise. Sharon Osbourne recently filed a trademark for the name in the U.S. for “live musical entertainment.” There’s been no official comment yet, but fans are already hoping for more.

Whether it’s through his music, documentaries, books, or just the unforgettable legacy he left behind, Ozzy’s spirit is still very much alive. Long live the Prince of Darkness.
