A Change in Plans
Tom Morello is adjusting his concert schedule to join Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on their upcoming Land of Hopes and Dreams tour. The 61-year-old guitarist announced on Tuesday, Feb. 24, that he will postpone several solo shows and cancel others in order to take part in the run of dates.
Morello shared the update in a statement posted on Instagram. He explained that some of his May performances will move to later dates, while a few appearances will not go forward at all. The decision follows a recent performance the two artists shared in Minneapolis.
Why He Made the Decision
The idea, Morello said, grew out of the “Defend Minnesota” charity concert, where Springsteen joined him on stage. The event supported the families of ICE shooting victims Renée Good and Alex Pretti. That night, he said, reminded him of the wider purpose behind his music.
“After Bruce joined me last month in Minneapolis for our ‘Defend Minnesota’ charity concert, I was reminded how important our platform is, and how crucial the resistance work is that our music can do together at this dangerous historical juncture,” Morello wrote in his post on Tuesday.
“Together, Bruce, the E Street Band, and I are going to turn a spotlight on the current threats to democracy and human rights happening all around us the in the spirit of freedom, justice, and rock n roll.”
He added, “T”his will necessitate postponing a few of my solo shows in May,” while stressing, “I have a deep love and respect for all my friends, fans & comrades and I promise that we will find a way to be together for these shows, in these towns, very soon.”

Rescheduled and Canceled Shows
Morello confirmed that five solo concerts in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Atlanta, Nashville, and Milwaukee will be rescheduled. Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new dates. Fans who cannot attend the revised shows will “receive a full refund,” Morello confirmed.
In addition to those changes, three festival appearances set for May will be canceled. The guitarist had been scheduled to perform at Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival, and BottleRock Napa Valley. Those performances will no longer take place due to the schedule shift.
Fans reacted with mixed feelings in the comments section of his post. Some expressed support for his decision to tour with Springsteen, while others shared disappointment over the cancellations.
“Oh SNAP 😮 we’re happy you get to join Bruce but sad we’ll be missing you at this year’s ST [Sonic Temple] now 😔” one disappointed user wrote.
“Bummed you’re canceling Bottlerock! Was looking forward to seeing you there,” another commenter lamented.
