Bob Dylan has expanded his 2026 touring schedule with the addition of more than a dozen new dates, signaling another busy year on the road for the legendary artist.
A Summer Tour Takes Shape
The newly announced leg of Dylan’s tour will kick off on July 8 in Chicago, before moving through major cities including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Boston. Among the most anticipated stops is a July 21 performance in New York City, where Dylan will return to Forest Hills Stadium for the first time in a decade.
For that special night, he will be joined by Jimmie Vaughan and Lucinda Williams, adding further weight to an already notable run of shows.
Lucinda Williams Reflects on Meeting a Hero
Williams, who shared the stage with Dylan during Willie Nelson’s 2025 Outlaw Tour, recently opened up about her first encounter with the iconic songwriter.
Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, she recalled the moment she learned Dylan had heard about her being dubbed the “female Bob Dylan”—a label passed along through Mavis Staples.
“It’s funny: At a certain point somebody in the press over the last few years started referring to me as the ‘female Bob Dylan’ and Bob Dylan heard about that,” Williams explained. “I got the story through Mavis Staples. She and I were on this show together and sitting around just chatting and she had just done something with Bob and said Bob had been going around telling his bandmates and crew guys, ‘Hey, there’s a female Bob Dylan out there, apparently.’ Like he got a big kick out of it.”
“Well, Who Else Would It Be?”
When the two artists finally met, Williams addressed the comparison directly—an exchange that left a lasting impression on her.
“So, when he came up to say hi, I said, ‘I know you know about this female Bob Dylan thing.’ And he smiles real big and he goes, ‘Is that you?’ I said yes. I was kind of embarrassed, because it’s kind of silly. And then — this is what blew my mind — he goes, ‘Well, who else would it be?’ I thought, ‘Oh my god, that has to mean he’s heard my stuff before.’ I don’t know, I’m still so in awe of him. I’ve been singing his praises since I first discovered his music when I was 12 years old.”
Meanwhile, Vaughan is no stranger to sharing the stage with Dylan. The guitarist previously appeared at the final show of Dylan’s 2024 tour in Austin, Texas, performing four songs alongside him and his band.
