Ozzy Osbourne will be recognized at this weekend’s Grammy Awards with a tribute built around one of Black Sabbath’s best-known songs. A group of major rock names is set to perform “War Pigs” during the ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 1.
The lineup includes Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, producer Andrew Watt, and singer Post Malone. Together, they will salute Osbourne’s impact on rock music with a live version of the anti-war track.
Musicians Unite for Tribute
Post Malone has worked with Osbourne before, appearing on the 2019 song “Take What You Want.” He also provided vocals on Ozzy’s 2020 track “It’s a Raid.” His past work with the singer adds a direct link to the performance.
While the Recording Academy has not shared full details, McKagan confirmed the song choice on his Planet Rock radio show, Three Chords & The Truth, which he hosts with his wife, Susan Holmes McKagan.
Duff McKagan Shares Details
“So listen, I’ve been downstairs in the basement playing a song. A little ‘War Pigs’,” Duff tells his wife and co-host Susan Holmes McKagan. “This weekend we’re doing a homage to Ozzy at The Grammys. It’s gonna be Slash and myself and Andrew Watt and Chad Smith and Post Malone – and he’s a hell of a rock singer.”
He continued, “So it’s gonna be super cool, we’re doing ‘War Pigs’. One (song) and done. We’re bringing some rock and roll to The Grammys and it does need it.”
