A Return to the Stage
ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard is set to rejoin the band’s Elevation tour after stepping away for the second time this year. The group’s management confirmed that Beard had been off the road for several weeks to deal with a medical issue that required him to return to Texas.
After missing a series of shows, management announced that the matter “has been resolved” and Beard has now been cleared to return. In his own words, Beard explained, “The doctors did what they did so now I’m able to do what I do. Happy that it’s back to band business as usual.” His first show back will be Thursday in Tulsa, and he is expected to remain with the band through the rest of the tour, which continues until November.

Previous Health Struggles
This marks the second time in 2024 that Beard has had to take time off the road. Earlier in March, he “temporarily stepped away” to deal with health complications. It was later revealed that those problems were connected to “foot and ankle issues.” By June, he had recovered enough to rejoin ZZ Top and continued performing until his most recent leave.
While Beard’s absence raised concerns among fans, the drummer’s quick return offers reassurance that he remains committed to finishing the Elevation tour alongside bandmates Billy Gibbons and Elwood Francis.
