Yungblud’s emotional and much-talked-about cover of Black Sabbath’s 1972 track “Changes”—first performed live at Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell concert—has officially landed on streaming platforms. The rising UK rocker delivered the performance on July 5 at Villa Park, Birmingham, as part of a special tribute to the Prince of Darkness.
Backed by a rock supergroup featuring Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Frank Bello of Anthrax (bass), Sleep Token’s masked drummer ‘II’ (drums), and Ozzy’s longtime keyboardist Adam Wakeman, Yungblud created what Metal Hammer described as a moment that “set Villa Park alight” and marked “the first truly epic sing-along of the day.”
Yungblud and Ozzy: A History of Collaboration
This isn’t the first time Yungblud—real name Dominic Richard Harrison—has crossed creative paths with Ozzy Osbourne. In 2022, Ozzy and wife Sharon appeared in Yungblud’s music video for The Funeral, where they memorably run him over with their car. “Who was that?” Ozzy asks. Sharon replies, “Just some fucking poser.” Ozzy responds, “Ah, run him over again, then.”
New Album, Global Tour, and a Personal Message
Yungblud’s fourth studio album, Idols, was released on June 20 via Locomotion and Capitol Records. In an interview with Louder, he described it as “a concept album about relinquishing your idols and finding the answers to your own life.” He added, “You end up as that photograph [you idolize], but then you realise it never had the answers—it was always you.”
The artist is currently touring globally. He performs tonight (July 18) at Ilosaarirock in Finland, hits Asia in August, and kicks off a North American tour in Los Angeles on August 23. A European tour follows, starting October 4 in Amsterdam. Full details are on his official website.
