Young Stevie Ray Vaughan Joins Doyle Bramhall For “Too Sorry”

Young Stevie Ray Vaughan Joins Doyle Bramhall For “Too Sorry” | Society Of Rock Videos

Pre-Texas Flood Era Recording

When Texas-born singer-songwriter Doyle Bramhall passed away in 2011 at the age of 62, the music world was devastated at such a loss, yet overjoyed at the thought of Doyle once again being with his good friend Stevie Ray Vaughan. The two, lifelong friends since they were children tearing around Dallas barefoot, also collaborated on nearly every piece of music ever written by Stevie over the course of his career, making their bond stronger than most.

Fun Fact: After writing several songs both with and for Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bramhall released his debut solo record in 1994, which included appearances from the Vaughans and his own son, Doyle Bramhall II.

It’s in ‘Too Sorry’, Bramhall’s offering from his 1994 debut album Bird Nest on The Ground that we’re able to hear just how well he worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan; recorded long before Stevie’s Texas Flood in the early 80s, ‘Too Sorry’ features the incredible push and pull of two seasoned blues musicians who, through a lifelong friendship, have come to know each other quite well. While it was released 4 years after Stevie’s death, it’s an incredible time capsule of a treat for fans of both the late guitarist and Bramhall’s signature blues soaked voice!

+ Too Sorry lyrics +

I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you

I can’t do what you want me to
I can’t do what you want me to
Sometimes I feel we’re almost through
Sometimes I feel we’re almost through
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
Oh baby

I leave woman when you want me to
I leave woman when you want me there
You give a smile I give a stare
I leave woman when you want me there
You give a smile I give a stare
I’m too sorry for you

Bye bye baby bye bye
Bye bye baby bye bye
I’m too sorry for you
I’m too sorry for you
Well goodbye goodbye baby
I’m too sorry
