The Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, has been forced to push back her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency due to unexpected health issues. The news comes after a remarkably productive period for the 79-year-old icon, who recently lost her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, in March 2025. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, actress, business owner, and philanthropist will now take time to rest, making way for a fellow country superstar to fill her December dates.
The 100,000-Mile Check-Up
Parton’s planned December 2025 residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been postponed until 2026. The legend shared the difficult decision with her trademark blend of sincerity and wit, explaining that her physical condition would prevent her from delivering the spectacular performance her fans expect.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Parton wrote.
She then lightened the tone while explaining the severity of her condition:
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Turning serious, she stressed her commitment to quality:
“I am not able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Tim McGraw Fills the Gap
With Parton taking time to recover, Tim McGraw is stepping into the vacated slot. The 58-year-old crooner announced on Friday, October 3, a four-night run titled Tim McGraw: Live in Vegas at The Colosseum.
McGraw’s performances are scheduled for December 4, 6, 12, and 13, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo, and taking over several dates originally earmarked for the Queen of Country’s limited residency.
No Retirement on the Horizon
Despite the medical setback, Parton reassured her devoted global fan base that this is merely a pause, not an end. She confirmed that her limited Dolly: Live in Las Vegas residency is now officially rescheduled for September 17–26, 2026.
To quell any concerns about her stepping away from her six-decade-long career, the Queen of Country offered a reassuring promise:
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
