Willie Nelson has canceled his scheduled Tuesday performance on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, adding to a recent series of cancellations.
The legendary country artist was set to perform at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts. In a statement, his team announced the last-minute cancellation, noting that Nelson plans to rejoin the tour on July 4 in Camden, New Jersey. His son, Lukas Nelson, will step in for him. The statement read:
“Willie Nelson is looking forward to seeing everyone in Camden on July 4. He will not be performing in Mansfield today.“Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse will perform as scheduled. Additionally, Lukas Nelson and Family, along with some special guests, will once again play his own set that will include Willie’s classics and other songs.”
Willie Nelson Yet to Take the Stage on Outlaw Music Festival Tour
The Outlaw Music Festival Tour began on June 21 in Alpharetta, Georgia. However, Nelson announced that he would miss the opening night, stating, “per doctor’s orders, [he had] been advised to rest for the next four days.”
As of July 2, Nelson has not performed at any tour stops. The traveling festival features a rotating lineup, including John Mellencamp, Billy Strings, Brittney Spencer, and Southern Avenue at various shows. The tour’s final leg is set to conclude on September 20 in Gilford, New Hampshire.
Despite recent health issues, Nelson, 91, continues to be active in his career. Last May, the country singer released his 75th studio album, The Border. In addition, he and his wife Annie are set to release a cannabis cookbook on November 12.
Fans eagerly anticipate Nelson’s return to the stage and continue to support his prolific output. In the meantime, they can still catch brilliant performances from various artists lined up for the tour.
