RIP

Tawny Kitaen, the model and actress who appeared in several ’80s rock videos, has passed away at the age of 59. She died at her home in Newport Beach, California on Friday night. Her cause of death was not provided.

Born in 1961, she modeled for Ratt’s 1984 debut EP cover and appeared in their music video for “Back for More.” At the time, she was dating Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby.

She co-starred along with Tom Hanks in the 1984 comedy film “Bachelor Party” and also had a couple of roles on TV shows but it was her cameos in ’80s music videos that propelled her to stardom. She starred in four Whitesnake videos starting with 1987’s “Here I Go Again.” She also had cameos in “Is This Love,” “Still of the Night”, and “The Deeper the Love”. In 1989, she married David Coverdale but the couple divorced in 1991.

In recent years, Kitaen participated in reality shows.

Speaking about how the “Here I Go Again” video changed her life, Kitaen said in a 2020 interview with podcast Ouch, “David was driving the white Jag, because that was our car. We got up toward the Rainbow on the Sunset Strip and there was a red light. People saw us in the car, and they jumped on the hood!”

“My dad was like, ‘What’s going on!’”, she continued. “I said, ‘That’s just how the world works.’ We had to shoo these people off our car and drive off.”

It was recently revealed that she was working on her autobiography before she died.
