In a shocking turn of events on April 8, 2025, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers shot Jillian Lauren outside her Eagle Rock home. She is married to Weezer drummer Scott Shriner. The event took place while cops were looking for suspects in a nearby hit-and-run accident.

The Series of Events

At 3:25 p.m., there was an accident on the 134 Freeway near Figueroa Street involving three cars. Three people ran away on foot, which is why the California Highway Patrol called the LAPD for help. As police set up a perimeter in the Eagle Rock neighborhood, they found 51-year-old Lauren holding a gun in her garden. She reportedly pointed the gun at the police officers even though they told her over and over to drop it, which caused them to fire and hit her in the shoulder.

What Happened and Arrests

After the killing, Lauren went back to her house, but she later came out with her babysitter and turned herself in to the police. She was taken to a nearby hospital to get care for injuries that were not life-threatening. After that, Lauren was booked without being there on a criminal charge of attempted murder. Her bail was set at $1 million. Notably, she was found to have nothing to do with the first hit-and-run.

A Little History on Jillian Lauren

Author Jillian Lauren is best known for her autobiography “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem,” which tells about her time in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. “Everything You Ever Wanted” and “Behold the Monster: Facing America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer” are two other books she has written. Lauren was in the 2021 Starz docuseries “Confronting a Serial Killer,” which was about her contacts with serial killer Samuel Little.

What This Means for Weezer

This happened just a few days before Weezer was supposed to play at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12. Currently, representatives for Scott Shriner and Weezer have not said anything about the situation or how it might affect their planned show.

The officer-involved killing is being looked into by the LAPD’s Force Investigation Division right now. At this point, no more information has been made public.
